Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security, the Hon. Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn says Jamaica Combined Cadet Force (JCCF) has set a national record through youth engagement and development at scale.
“Today, the Force stands stronger than ever with a record-high Junior Division of 6,977 Cadets and 288 Adult Volunteers guiding their journey,” Minister Cuthbert-Flynn unscored.
The State Minister made the statement while speaking at the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force Annual Camp 2025 held at the William Knibb Memorial High School in Trelawny on Sunday (July 20).
She further pointed out that “thirty-one individuals are currently undergoing Potential Officer’s Training as part of Intake 28, sharpening their leadership, tactical, and administrative skills to support and guide the next generation of Cadets.”
Designed to identify and develop the leadership potential of volunteers who aspire to become officers, the Potential Officer's Training serves as a strategic pipeline for the Jamaica Defence Force, Jamaica Constabulary Force, Department of Correctional Services and Jamaica Fire Brigade.
“Just recently, over 130 Cadets participated in Restorative Justice Training, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, a clear example of how the JCCF is preparing youth not only for leadership, but for peaceful conflict resolution and nation-building”, she shared, highlighting the significance of the cadets’ commitment to service and their role in building a safer more resilient Jamaica.
“When I see young minds like yourselves actively involved in the JCCF, I am hopeful... hopeful that our society can be reshaped and changed with your influence on your generation and others to come,” she further expressed.
Minister Flynn concluded her address by charging the cadets to utilise the experiences gained at the camp to influence their daily decisions, foster growth and empower themselves to become leaders and change makers.
The Open Day saw Cadets engaged in tactical demonstrations, field drills, First Aid display, band exhibition, giving attendees a comprehensive showcase of the capabilities within the JCCF.
