ANNEX 5
GRADE 7 MALES – DISCUSSION GUIDE
(FINAL)
Hi, I’m _____________. I’m here to have a discussion with you about your life as a student
living in JA. I want us to talk about what’s good in your life and in Jamaica and what’s
bad. And what you think can make things better for young people.
I’m doing this for an organization called Violence Prevention Alliance (VPA). We’re going
to share this information with Citizens Security and Justice Programme (CSJP) because
they want to put messages on social media and have community events that can help
youth and adults to quarrel and fight less, have a better, more peaceful life. We are also
having discussions with Grade 7 students in other schools, some male, some female, plus
youth groups in different communities.
What d’you think? I don’t need to know your names. I’m not keeping a register. You are
free to ask me questions. I am going to record it but only we in this room and the person
writing this up will hear it. Can we talk?
