Case management is a collaborative process where case
managers work closely with clients to ensure they receive
appropriate treatment and support. As one of the Guidance
Counsellors at Kingston High School, I have had the privilege
of working closely with two Case Management Officers from
the Ministry of National Security. The Case Management
Officers provide crucial services that address behavioural
challenges of some of our most challenged students.

The case management process involved students from Grade
7 to Grade 9 who were referred for case management by
Grade Coordinators and Guidance Counsellors. The process
began with the assessment of the students by the Case
Management Officers who also had several consultations
with the parents of the students. Throughout the case
management process, I closely engaged with and observed
the Case Management Officers as they engaged the students,
employing various strategies within the framework of case
management. Strategies such as home visits and brokering Email answers to theclient@mns.gov.jm
