Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security, the Hon. Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn notes that advancing national financial security remains a cornerstone of the nation’s sustainable development and socio-economic resilience.
Speaking at the Jamaica Police Co-operative Credit Union’s (JPCCU) 70th Anniversary Celebration at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Saturday (July 5), the State Minister used the occasion to salute the JPCCU’s legacy and steadfast contribution to Jamaica’s financial security and growth over the past 70 years.
“I commend the Jamaica Police Co-operative Credit Union for its significant contribution to the well-being of our police force and their families, while fostering financial security and promoting a culture of savings and mutual support,” Minister Cuthbert-Flynn shared.
She further emphasised that “over the years, it has grown into a pillar of financial strength and stability for its members serving as a testament to the enduring values of cooperation, integrity and service”.
The JPCCU currently manages over $10 billion in assets and serves a membership of over 24,000 from 12 locations island wide.
The Minister reiterated that the JPCCU is built upon solid foundations and reflects a deep commitment to excellence, community empowerment, strategic innovations, resilience, and a high standard of service delivery.
“As we reflect on our journey from humble beginnings with just 11 rank-and-file members, contributing a total of 11 shillings, this Credit Union has exemplified the power of collective effort, trust and an innovative spirit,” she affirmed.
Minister Cuthbert-Flynn concluded by charging attendees to “... continue to strengthen the bonds of community and support, ensuring that the Platinum Legacy of the JPCCU endures for many, many more decades so that future generations will gather to celebrate the centennial and even bicentennial anniversary of the credit union.”
