The Minister was addressing staff of the Department of Correctional Services’ (DCS) 11 correctional facilities virtually on the management of COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Hon. Dr. Horace Chang said the Government is now more driven to pursue Plan Secure Jamaica - the administration’s most comprehensive and strategic security programme, to date.
Speaking in Parliament today, Minister Chang said: “Plan secure Jamaica is the most coordinated, inclusive and enduring security programme that has ever been introduced in Jamaica. It is geared towards creating a safe, secure, cohesive and just society, thereby setting a key condition for increased and sustained growth and prosperity”.

The Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) is now better placed to trace firearms, through the acquisition of two Laser Engraving Marking Machines from a US$9,000 Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) intervention.
National Security Minister, the Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, said the procurement represents an important development in the country’s national security apparatus and crime fighting strategies.

Wards in state care at the Rio Cobre Juvenile Correctional Centre (RCJCC) will benefit from the additional housing and learning facilities next year.
Minister without Portfolio, Senator the Honourable Matthew Samuda made this announcement while touring the classrooms and housing blocks currently under construction. He indicated that the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is working to consolidate rehabilitation efforts through the planned relocation of wards from the Hill Top Juvenile Correctional Centre to RCJCC.
